#1 Drug Rehab in Hawaii

Exclusive Hawaii Rehab is the number one drug rehab in Hawaii because we are a luxury wellness center, located on the Big Island of Hawaii, and we customize each of our guest’s care to best suit their unique personality, needs, and preferences. We combine holistic methods with evidence-based therapy and high-quality clinical care for full-body, mind, and spirit rejuvenation.

We believe in empowering our patients to be themselves and explore their own points of view through questioning their own beliefs, getting to know yourself, and expressing ideas and opinions as you learn and practice new coping strategies and get to the root of your addiction.

Drug addiction is a complex issue that affects more than just the body. Drugs can affect the brain chemistry of the user, impacting processes like:

  • Self-control
  • Judgment
  • Resistance
  • Decision making
  • Impulsivity
  • Memory
  • Stress levels

We do not see you as an addict at Exclusive Hawaii Rehab. Labels are unproductive and can carry negative stigmas. We know that you are a full person with complex ideas, wisdom, and a full spectrum of feelings and ideas that we want to help you explore through our various therapeutic and holistic methods. We will not tell you specific steps you need to take to “get sober”, rather we will empower you to come to your own conclusions about life and your own health as you figure out what your core values truly are.

Some of the approaches we take at Exclusive Hawaii Rehab include:

  • Experiential Therapy: This therapy helps you move past the fight or flight feelings that come when you are exposed to traumatic, emotional, or otherwise stressful triggers. We will help you get used to feeling fear, pain or negativity, and give you the tools to get through it. This is a hands-on type of learning where you will use our techniques in real-time, maybe even as you speak to loved ones or work about stressful situations over the phone, depending on your comfort level and situation. This way, you will know exactly what to do when you begin to feel your body reacting to stress when you are out in the real world, where things are not perfect.
  • Stimulus Belief Response: This is a proprietary method of empowerment, in which you discover your core-level beliefs, and learn to overcome the pressure to perform for others, and release self-destructive or shame-based beliefs to bring about lasting internal change. We help you cultivate greater mindfulness to empower you to find answers within yourself through questioning what you believe to be true and whether it serves you.
  • Emotional Flexibility: This methodology will teach you to let go of judgment when it comes to emotions, let it run through you, experience the feelings, and learn more about what is triggering you.

These tools will be indispensable for you to navigate the world once you return home and are faced with real-life challenges, stress, and temptations. You will know yourself better and make more informed and enlightened decisions.

Detox

People begin using drugs for many reasons, including:

  • Exposure to trauma
  • Growing up around drug and alcohol use
  • Social situations or pressure
  • Self-medication for pain or mental illness
  • Boredom or curiosity

When a pattern of use becomes problematic, or when you cannot stop using the drugs without experiencing withdrawal symptoms, you may be chemically addicted. Physical dependence happens after a prolonged period of drug use when the brain can no longer produce dopamine on its own, and because of other chemical and physical changes, your body begins to need the substance just to be able to function normally.

Some of the main signs and symptoms of drug addiction include:

  • Experiencing withdrawal symptoms and strong drug cravings when you do not have access to the substance
  • Having a higher tolerance to the substance and needing to use more the get the same effect
  • Keeping stashes of the substance around the house, at work, or on your person (in your car, in your desk at work, in your purse, etc)
  • Doing things you normally would not do like lying, stealing, sex work, acting financial exploitation or emotional exploitation of others; having legal troubles because of issues related to drugs or alcohol
  • Missing or performing poorly at work and other responsibilities because of substance use
  • A preoccupation with planning  to get, use, and recover from the substance
  • Continuing to use the drug even when it starts causing problems for you at work, in relationships, or in financial trouble

When you quit using drugs suddenly, without tapering off your use, your body will produce mild to severe withdrawal symptoms that can escalate and become dangerous or unbearable if untreated by professionals. At Exclusive Hawaii Rehab, we can help you through a customized combination of therapy and holistic treatments for your mind, body, and soul that will get you through your detox period and out the other side, to a place where you are stable and able to fully heal, becoming a stronger and more grounded version of yourself. Medical staff will oversee your progress as you go, to ensure you remain safe and as comfortable as possible, and so as you go through this difficult time, you will not be alone.

When you first enter our detox facility, you will meet with our medical team to ensure you are stable and healthy enough to detox outside of a hospital setting, and then we will work alongside you to create a multifaceted, holistic detox and rehabilitation plan that will meet your specific health needs.

Our onsite doctor is a naturopathic doctor who will do bloodwork to find out if you are missing any vital nutrients and then prescribe supplements, nutrition, and IV therapy which can make a huge difference in your comfort level during detox. They can also prescribe medications if necessary.

You will move into your comfortable private or shared room and will have plenty of oversight by our nursing team. During the days you will follow a predetermined schedule of treatments that will help you deal with the discomfort, as well as any unwanted emotions and thoughts that come up, through therapy, holistic treatments, and medical visits. We will begin work on finding the root of your addiction and finding your way to a life that is healthy and balanced.

Once you have completed your detox period and you are deemed stable enough to move on, you will begin your 30-, 60-, or 90-day rehabilitation program.

Dual Diagnosis

There is a real connection between drug abuse and mental illness that needs to be considered. When a person is suffering from an untreated co-occurring condition like depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, or bipolar disorder, they may use drugs or alcohol as a coping mechanism, self-medicating to try to control their psychiatric issues. This can prevent the development of healthy coping mechanisms, instead of causing you to lean on the drugs even harder. Over time, this becomes a physical dependency.

Substance abuse can also trigger latent mental illnesses or make the symptoms worse, and some drugs and alcohol can interfere with psychiatric medications as well. Mental illness and addiction should be treated at the same time by the same team because they are usually closely related and have the same underlying causes. Getting help for both at once just makes sense. You will be much more capable of stopping cocaine use if your depression is under control, for example.

Inpatient Rehab

At Exclusive Hawaii Rehab, our interdisciplinary team is passionate about helping you, and we are excited to share our methods with you. When you are in inpatient rehab at Exclusive Hawaii Rehab, you will learn that:

  • Addiction is not anything to be ashamed about. It is not a character flaw, even though in our society it is seen as an embarrassment, something to hide away. The reality is the sooner you address your addiction and the underlying reasons for it head-on, the sooner you will realize it is just a pattern of behaviors that can be broken with a little help.
  • Releasing trauma and pain is one of the main facets of addiction treatment, to help you stop using drugs as a crutch to get through life. With help from our counselors and therapists, you can learn to let these issues go for good.
  • Labels are unhelpful and they mean more than you might expect. Calling you a “drug addict” would bring negative stigmas and feelings of unworthiness and helplessness that simply do not need to exist. You are not “an addict”, you are a person who has a medical issue you are addressing. You don’t go around calling people who have diabetes “the diabetic”, right? They are more than that and so are you.
  • Vulnerability is not a weakness, it is empowering. When you really put yourself out there and show your true self, opening yourself up to your true beliefs and emotions, you can truly accept yourself and work on self-forgiveness. Being vulnerable also makes you more approachable and it will be more likely that you have deeper relationships with the people in your life.
  • You know yourself best. At Exclusive Hawaii Rehab, we are not dogmatic in our beliefs, and we do not have all the answers. You are a complex human being, and we will ask you to use your innate wisdom, through our integrated treatments, to get to the root of your addiction. Increasing your awareness, questioning your own beliefs, and finding new patterns of thinking and behavior is the key to recovery

Our combination of holistic care, medical oversight, and therapeutic treatments, as well as dual diagnosis treatments if needed, will provide you with the best chance to get to the root of your addiction and teach you healthy coping strategies and thought patterns so you will be much less likely to relapse in the future. We will help you heal the root of your concerns, addressing underlying issues that are holding you back.

Types of Drug Addictions We Treat

At Exclusive Hawaii Rehab, the most frequent drug addictions we treat include addictions to:

  • Alcohol
  • Prescription drugs
  • Opioids
  • Meth
  • Heroin
  • Cocaine

And through our dual diagnosis treatment program, we can also tackle mental health issues like anxiety, PTSD, depression, ADHD, and eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating.

Heroin Rehab

Heroin is a common street drug, as it is often less expensive than other street opioids, and produces a euphoric high for the user. It is highly addictive, and may be very difficult and even dangerous to attempt quitting on your own. Some of the more common withdrawal symptoms from heroin include:

  • Muscle and bone pain
  • Uncontrollable leg movements
  • Cold flashes with goosebumps
  • Diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, and other gastrointestinal issues
  • Sleep problems
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Severe drug cravings

Detoxing at Exclusive Hawaii Rehab will give you expert treatment under a doctor’s watchful eye to ensure you remain safe as you go through a regimen of holistic treatments, with medications provided if necessary. We do not want you to have to suffer, and tapering slowly off of heroin is one way to avoid this.

You may need a longer rehab period when quitting heroin, as its effects are longer lasting than others, with withdrawal symptoms returning sometimes weeks or months after your last use. You may need extra support to avoid relapsing. You may also want to take advantage of our outpatient aftercare.

Cocaine Rehab

Cocaine is a stimulant drug that is highly addictive because it raises dopamine levels quickly, but when the drug wears off the crash is hard, causing low mood, depression, and tiredness, spurring the user to take more of the drug. Over time, the brain becomes dependent on cocaine to be able to produce dopamine, and it becomes impossible to feel happiness or pleasure without the drug.

The withdrawal symptoms from cocaine include:

  • Depression
  • Nightmares
  • Restlessness
  • Headache
  • Irritability
  • Paranoia
  • Fatigue
  • General malaise

Cocaine can cause physical health issues, especially heart and sinus issues, and problems with high blood pressure, and these will need to be stabilized and overseen by a doctor while you detox and rehabilitate to ensure you remain healthy.

Cocaine addiction is largely psychological, so therapy is the key to quitting. After your detox period, we will help you, through our multifaceted, holistic program customized to you, to learn recovery skills and find your own way to relapse avoidance.

Oxy Rehab in Hawaii

Oxycodone is a prescription painkiller that is usually given to people with chronic pain. It is a strong opioid drug that is highly addictive, and requires a full detox and rehabilitation program to quit, in most cases. Detox symptoms from oxy come in two phases, and last for around two weeks. In the first phase, you will experience:

  • Restlessness
  • Irritation
  • Insomnia
  • Muscle aches and cramps
  • Yawning
  • and flu-like symptoms

In the second phase, you will have:

  • Blurred vision
  • Nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea
  • Reduced appetite
  • Shivering uncontrollably
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • High blood pressure

Our team of nurses will monitor your symptoms and help you out to ensure you do not suffer unnecessarily. Being in our facility is not a punishment and we do not want it to feel that it is. We are here to help you. Your treatments will continue as you transition into rehab once your detox period is over.

Meth Rehab in Hawaii

Methamphetamine is a highly addictive central nervous system stimulant drug that can lead to rapid dependency because of the rush of dopamine it produces in the brain. People use the drug for days at a time because it feels so good, using higher and higher doses to get the same high, causing a heavy addiction.

Meth withdrawal symptoms include:

  • Agitation
  • Insomnia
  • Excessive sweating
  • Tremors
  • Weakness
  • Muscle pain
  • Nausea
  • Confusion
  • Depression sometimes leads to suicidal thoughts
  • Paranoia or delusions
  • Severe dehydration
  • Strong drug cravings

Medical oversight is very important with meth detox because some of these symptoms can cause damage or even become deadly if untreated. We will keep you safe and hydrated as you detox, and give you full clinical, psychiatric, and holistic support through this difficult time.

Benzo Rehab in Hawaii

Benzodiazepines are medications prescribed to treat issues related to anxiety-like insomnia and panic disorders. Benzos produce feelings of relaxation and calm but can lead to dangerous sedative effects including depressed breathing when abused, especially when taken with other drugs or alcohol.

Withdrawal symptoms from benzos include:

  • Anxiety
  • Shaking
  • Increased heart rate
  • Light and sound sensitivity
  • Seizures

Because symptoms can escalate to a dangerous level when quitting, it is recommended to slowly taper off these drugs under medical supervision. When you stop using benzos sometimes long-term effects like depression, insomnia and anxiety can persist. The best course of action is to remain in inpatient rehab for a 30 to 90-day program, to ensure you have all the support you need as your body recalibrates itself.

Prescription Drug Rehab in Hawaii

AT Exclusive Hawaii Rehab we also treat prescription drug addiction, including:

  • Painkillers, opiates, and opioids like methadone, oxycontin, codeine, Demerol, Vicodin, and Percocet.

  • Stimulants like Ritalin, Adderall, Dexedrine, and amphetamines

Discreet Rehab Center in Hawaii

Discretion is paramount at Exclusive Hawaii Rehab. We know that the majority of our clients are executives, celebrities, and other high net worth individuals whose reputations mean more than anything. Being addicted to drugs is not anything to be ashamed of, but the stigma can, unfortunately, cause real-life damage to some people’s livelihoods. For this reason, we take great care to ensure each of our patient’s privacy is protected.

The entire facility cannot be seen from the road and is “paparazzi proof”, thanks to the tall grass, walled perimeter, and many tall palm trees on the grounds. The secluded location on a large, private estate will provide maximum privacy, and our staff is trained in confidentiality procedures, so all you have to do is focus on your own healing, without worrying about what anybody else is going to think.

As an extra measure, although we encourage folks to bring their laptops and phones to our wellness retreat, they are not allowed in any group setting or public area. Nothing with a recording device or camera may be taken where fellow guests are, so your wish for discretion can be honored.

Exclusive & Secure Addiction Treatment in Hawaii

There are only eight guests staying in our wellness retreat at one time so that we can maintain the sense of seclusion, and you can truly get away from the chaos of everyday life in a serene environment. We have plenty of security in the form of cameras and security staff, as well as our walled perimeter to keep any unwanted folks out. Feeling safe and secure is the key to being able to open up, and you can trust us to ensure you are safe in our hands.
