Nytera Banks serves as a Night Residential Aide at The Exclusive, where she provides care and support for clients in residential treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. Her overnight presence offers something quietly essential — a dependable, attentive guardian during the hours when residents most need to feel safe and held. Nytera draws on a comprehensive background in corrections, healthcare, and customer service, bringing acute awareness of safety and security, working knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare expectations, and the kind of steady, effective communication skills that make her a trusted presence on the overnight team.
Described by those who know her as dependable, loyal, and authentic, Nytera is inspired by creation, expression, and service to others. She lives by a lesson from her parents that shapes the way she shows up for clients every night: “Perception is 9/10ths of reality — you choose how you see a person or situation.” That mindset informs the grace she extends to residents who may be at their most vulnerable in the small hours of the morning. Her biggest wish for clients in recovery is that they use their experience to enrich their understanding and awareness of themselves and others — turning the hardest chapters of their stories into a deeper kind of wisdom.
Nytera moved to the Big Island in 2023, drawn home by her roots — her father was native Hawaiian, and learning about the generations before her and her culture brings her great joy. Born in California, raised in Oklahoma, and most recently a longtime resident of Omaha, Nebraska, she has lived in many places throughout her husband’s 29-year marriage and U.S. Army career, including Vicenza, Italy. Today she treasures being on the island alongside her sisters and the rest of her Ohana, and she shares life with her husband and their two adult children. In her leisure time, she loves karaoke and creating — sewing, diamond art, and building miniature houses. If she were a new addition to the crayon box, she’d be purple — her favorite color.
